Itineraries

Our guide will meet you at 11:30 AM at Phnom Penh Port for embarkation aboard the Mekong Princess. A safety briefing will be held in the Ramvong Lounge upon arrival.

After lunch, embark on an exciting cyclo tour of Phnom Penh, starting along the riverfront to the Royal Palace. Stroll through its manicured gardens and visit the Throne Hall and Moonlight Pavilion before continuing to the Silver Pagoda, home to Cambodia’s Emerald Buddha and a Maitreya Buddha adorned with over 9,000 diamonds.

After a short break, visit the National Museum, which houses Cambodia’s largest collection of pre-Angkorian and Angkorian artifacts, offering a deeper insight into the Khmer Empire’s history.

Early Sunday morning, the Mekong Princess will sail towards the Cambodia-Vietnam border for immigration formalities.

This morning, after completing immigration procedures into Vietnam, we visit Hong Ngu, a village near the border known for weaving traditional Khmer scarves. Observe the intricate weaving process in local homes and admire beautiful embroidery artwork. As one of the first western visitors to this area, you’ll experience the warm hospitality of the locals. We also visit a Hoa Hao temple, dedicated to this unique Vietnamese religion.

In the afternoon, board sampans to explore Gieng Island. After a short walk through a sampan-making village, take a canal ride through lush mango gardens along the riverbanks. Experience a ride on a xe lôi (motor trishaw) to visit Phanxico Monastery.

The ship sails to Hoa An and anchors overnight.

This morning, continue your excursion by boat to Hoa An village, known for its lush green fields where locals grow a variety of seasonal crops and fruit trees. Start the excursion with a ride on a xe loi (motor cart) through winding country roads, followed by a short walk in the peaceful village, passing rice fields and orchards. Then, take a sampan ride along a major branch of the Mekong River before turning into a busy canal, famous for being the rice milling center of the region. Observe the milling process from the sampan, learning about how rice is transported and processed locally. The final stop is at a conical hat-making family, where you’ll have the chance to chat with locals and try creating the hats yourself.

In the afternoon, the ship sails through an untouched part of the Mekong Delta to Can Tho (Tay Do), the capital of the region. After a short city tour, visit the Zihuang Pagoda (Chua Ong) and enjoy the welcome unicorn dance performance. Explore the charming city at your leisure before returning to the ship for dinner.

The ship docks in Can Tho overnight.

Start your morning with a sampan cruise through the Cai Rang floating market near Can Tho, where you’ll weave between boats selling fresh produce and local goods. Enjoy amazing photo opportunities, fresh fruit, and coconut water, known as Vietnam’s “anti-aging drink.” Before returning to the ship for a buffet breakfast, visit a local noodle factory to witness the fascinating noodle-making process.

After completing port formalities, the Mekong Princess sails along the Bassac River, passing through Tra On Rivulet mouth, Nicolai Canal, Mang Thit Canal, Cho Lach Rivulet mouth, and the Mekong River. The ship anchors overnight in the heart of the Mekong Delta in Ben Tre province.

Onboard Activities:

  • Fruit Carvings & Tropical Fruits demonstration by our Executive Chef.
  • Lecture on Vietnam: The Past & Present by your local Vietnamese host.

This morning, take a sampan ride through a mangrove-lined channel before hopping on a xe lam (three-wheeler) to visit a local coconut candy maker. After observing the candy-making process, stroll through the village to an orchard where you can see Vietnamese fruits in various stages of maturity. Enjoy a fresh fruit tasting before boarding small, local boats for a scenic trip through narrow creeks lined with Nipah palms, returning to the ship afterward.

The Mekong Princess then sails through the Mighty Mekong River, passing Cho Gao Canal, Vam Co River, Nuoc Man Canal, Soai Rap River, and Saigon River.

The ship docks overnight at Saigon Port.

Onboard Activity: Cooking Class Demonstration by our Executive Chef.

Enjoy a sumptuous breakfast buffet in the Indochine Restaurant. After breakfast and completing the port formalities, we will disembark the Mekong Princess at 8:00 AM at Saigon Port and transfer by motor coach to your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City.
