Itineraries

Your guide will meet you at 11:30 AM at Phnom Penh Port where the Mekong Princess is docked. Once aboard, a safety briefing will be conducted in the Ramvong Lounge.

After lunch, local cyclo drivers will take you on an exciting city tour of Phnom Penh. Begin your ride along the riverfront to the Royal Palace, where you'll take a leisurely walk through its beautiful grounds and gardens. You'll have the opportunity to visit the Throne Hall and Moonlight Pavilion, and then continue to the Silver Pagoda, home to Cambodia’s Emerald Buddha and Maitreya Buddha, encrusted with over 9,000 diamonds.

Following a short break, your cyclos will take you to the National Museum, home to Cambodia’s largest collection of pre-Angkorian and Angkorian artifacts. The museum offers a detailed look at many excavated treasures from the Angkor Archaeological Area and other parts of the former Khmer Empire.

Early Sunday morning, the Mekong Princess will head toward the Cambodia-Vietnam border to complete the necessary formalities.

This morning, after completing immigration procedures to Vietnam, we visit the local island village of Hong Ngu, near the Vietnam-Cambodia border. Hong Ngu is known for producing traditional Khmer scarves, which are exported to Cambodia. Many homes in the village are involved in the weaving process, and you’ll have the opportunity to observe this craft firsthand. Some villagers are also talented embroidery artists, showcasing their work in and around the homes. The people here are very welcoming, having had few western visitors before the arrival of the Mekong Princess. Guests will also visit a local temple dedicated to Hoa Hao, a unique religion founded in this region.

In the afternoon, we board sampans to explore Gieng Island. After a short walk through the local sampan village, where small boats are made daily by local families, we take a scenic canal ride through mango gardens along the riverbanks. Experience one of the most popular local transport options, the “xe loi” (motor trishaw), as we drive through the island to visit the Phanxico Monastery.

The ship sails to Hoa An and anchors overnight.

This morning, we continue our excursion by boat to Hoa An village, a peaceful, untouched area known for its lush green fields where locals grow a variety of seasonal crops, including vegetables and fruit trees. Our journey begins with a ride on a “xe loi” (motor cart) along winding country roads. En route, we enjoy a short walk through the village, taking in the scenic rice fields and fruit orchards. We then continue our sampan ride along a major branch of the Mekong River, turning into a busy canal known as the rice milling center of the region. From our sampan, we observe the village milling in operation, gaining insight into the local rice transport and processing methods. Our final stop is at a conical hat-making family, where we’ll have the opportunity to chat with the locals and learn the craft through a hands-on experience.

In the afternoon, the ship sails through an area of the Mekong Delta that is barely touched by tourism, heading to Can Tho city, also known as Tay Do, the capital of the Mekong Delta. Guests will take a short city tour, visiting Zihuang Pagoda (Chua Ong) and enjoying the welcome unicorn dances. Afterward, enjoy some free time to explore the charming city before returning to the ship for dinner.

The ship docks overnight in Can Tho.

We begin our morning before breakfast with a sampan cruise through the vibrant Cai Rang floating market near Can Tho. As the sampans weave in and out of the many boats selling fresh produce and daily necessities, there will be plenty of opportunities for photography while enjoying fresh fruit and sipping on the Vietnamese "anti-aging drink", fresh coconut water. Before returning to the ship for a delicious buffet breakfast, we make a stop at a local noodle factory, where we witness the fascinating process of noodle-making.

After completing port formalities, it’s time to bid farewell to the Mekong Princess and its crew. Disembarkation will take place at 10:30 A.M..
