According to handed-down tales, Princess Mi Chau is the daughter of An Duong Vuong - King of Au Lac (previous name of Vietnam). Due to blind trust in her husband, she revealed the national secret to him, which led to Au Lac being invaded.

When her father knew the truth, he decapitated her. Although the innocent love of Mi Chau led to serious mistakes, local people still felt regret for her. They built the temple to mourn for the unfortunate princess, which is Am Mi Nuong today.
