Cambodia significantly reduces e-Visa fees for two types of visas

According to a press release dated December 28, 2024, from the Royal Government of Cambodia, the entry fee for the tourist electronic visa (e-Visa T) will decrease from USD 36 to USD 30, representing a 16.6% reduction. Similarly, the fee for the ordinary electronic visa (e-Visa E) will be reduced from USD 42 to USD 35.

The new fee structure is set to take effect on January 1, 2025, with the primary objective of making the entry process more convenient for travelers and passengers arriving in Cambodia.

In the same announcement, the Royal Government of Cambodia has instructed relevant ministries, departments, and agencies to enhance and streamline the visa issuance procedures through the electronic visa and electronic entry systems. This will be achieved by integrating these processes into a unified government ecosystem, thereby simplifying the overall experience for applicants.

Aim to Attracting More Tourists

Tourism stands as a cornerstone of Cambodia's economy and is gradually recovering following the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2024, the country welcomed approximately 6.7 million international visitors and 22 million domestic travelers, surpassing the numbers recorded in 2019, prior to the pandemic.

This reduction in e-Visa fees is anticipated to further boost international tourism, as more people travel to Cambodia with e-Visa. By lowering the financial barriers to entry, the government aims to position the country as an even more appealing destination for global travelers.

Additionally, the directive to improve the electronic visa and entry systems reflects Cambodia's commitment to leveraging technology to enhance administrative efficiency. A unified government ecosystem is expected to provide a more seamless and user-friendly experience for visa applicants, reducing processing times and minimizing bureaucratic hurdles.

Overall, these measures underscore Cambodia's dedication to revitalizing its tourism sector and strengthening its economy by making the country more accessible and welcoming to international visitors.
