The mountain averages 1,700 meters in elevation; its highest point is around 1,900 meters. Its slope angle is rather thirty degrees. Casteur rock formations mostly define its terrain by means of geological changes over time. The landscape of Ham Rong is unique, featuring various types of mountains and diverse vegetation. Broadleaf trees dominate the flora, along with a well-developed coniferous ecosystem.

Time to come  

Depending on your preferences, you can choose the best time to visit Ham Rong Mountain. From January to April, the flower gardens and vegetation in Sapa begin to bloom, creating a lush and vibrant landscape. During this period, the weather in Sapa is pleasantly warm, with little rain, mild temperatures, and minimal perfect conditions for sightseeing.

Another great time to visit is from April to June. During these months, you can witness the stunning terraced rice fields as they enter the water-pouring season, reflecting the sky like giant mirrors.

On the other hand, October through December is prime cloud hunting season. At this time of year, Sapa is more likely to be shrouded in clouds and mist, giving you a better opportunity to photograph the spectacular vista of clouds floating over the mountains.

How to get Ham Rong Moutain 

Located about 3 km from the center of Sapa town. From the town center, head towards Sapa Stone Church, and you will find the entrance to Ham Rong Mountain right behind the church. Since the distance is not too far, you can choose to walk if you are in good health. Alternatively, if you are exploring Sapa by motorbike, you can park your vehicle outside the entrance of the Ham Rong Mountain Tourist Area.

Typically, visitors spend about half a day exploring the beauty of this mountain, which consists of three main areas: Ham Rong Flower Garden, Thach Lam Rock Garden, and the peak of Ham Rong Mountain.

Since 1996, Ham Rong Mountain has been developed into a tourist area, featuring flower gardens, rock gardens, Cloud Yard, and Heaven’s Gate (Cong Troi) to attract visitors.

As you ascend to the peak of Ham Rong, you will walk along stone steps, passing through beautiful mini landscapes such as the Orchid Garden, Peach Garden, Sapa Telecom Station, Cloud Yard, and Heaven’s Gate - places that will make you feel as if you’ve stepped into a fairyland.
