Best time to travel

Weather and climate are the two factors that determine the best time to travel to Laos. Laos is divided into two distinct seasons: the dry season from October to May and the rainy season from June to September. The average temperature in the North in January is about 15°C, in July, it is 28 °C. In the South and Central regions, it is 25°C and 30°C, respectively. 

The best time to visit Laos is between October and April, when the weather's warm and dry throughout. River travel and cruises are best between November and January, when high water levels make passage easy along Laos' main waterway, the Mekong River.

You can still visit Laos in the remaining months, however, the hot climate and harsh sunlight will cause some discomfort while traveling and exploring here.
