Bui Vien Walking Street is located in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The street is about 850m long, located on Bui Vien Street, intersecting with De Tham Street, Pham Ngu Lao Street and Do Quang Dau Street.

How to get there

If you start from other destinations, you can choose these means of transport to get to Ho Chi Minh City before moving to the walking street.

  • Airplane: This is the fastest and also the most comfortable vehicle. There are many international flights which fly straight to Ho Chi Minh City. After landing at the airport, you can book a taxi or public transport to get to the walking street. You can follow the main direction of Hoang Van Thu - Nguyen Van Troi - Nam Ky Khoi Nghia streets and it will take about 30 to 45 minutes depending on the traffic situation. 
  • Train: You can book a ticket to get on the Thong Nhat train straight to Saigon Station. This is a suitable choice for those who love to admire the landscape along the length of Vietnam. After arriving in Ho Chi Minh City, you can get on a taxi or a bus to get to the walking street.

When you get into the center of Saigon, there are many convenient ways to go to that place. 

  • Taxi/ technology vehicle: If your starting point is from the central areas of Ho Chi Minh City, you can book a taxi or technology car to Bui Vien Walking Street in about 5 to 10 minutes, the cost might range from 30,000 VND to 70,000 VND depending on the moving distance.
  • Bus: There are many bus routes, such as numbers 02, 53, 56, and 93, which have stops near the street area. After getting off the bus, you can walk a few hundred meters more to reach this place. 
  • Motorbike: If you drive your motorbike, you can follow the direction of Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street - Tran Hung Dao Street - De Tham Street, then park your vehicle at the parking lots at the beginning of Bui Vien Street, and you need to pay a fee of about 10,000 VND to  20,000 VND. However, the street prohibits vehicles on weekends from 7 pm to 2 am, so you should park your motorbikes early.

History 

In the old days, Bui Vien was just a normal street, but thanks to its location near the center and the development of tourism, it quickly became the "Western Quarter" of Saigon - a favorite destination of many foreign visitors. In 2017, the street was officially planned as a walking street on the weekends, attracting a large number of tourists.

Best time to visit

Bui Vien Walking Street is open from 7 pm to 2 am the following day on weekends (Saturday and Sunday). The street is the most bustling in the evening, especially from 8 pm to dawn. If you want to experience the most vibrant atmosphere, you should visit this place on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.
