The Prince's House is currently located at number 13 Dien Bien Phu, Ward 3, Bac Lieu City. The house has luxurious Western architecture, built from 1917 to 1919 when completed. The house possessed the most majestic architecture in the Western provinces of Vietnam at that time, so the people here called it "big house".

The mansion was built by Mr. Tran Trinh Trach or Trach Council, Prince Bac Lieu's father, when he was only 19 years old. Mr. Tran Trinh Trach is the owner of 74 fields, with 110,000 hectares of rice land and nearly 100,000 hectares of salt fields. At that time, the entire province at that time had 13 lots of salt fields, 11 of which belonged to him. Mr. Trach has 7 children, 4 girls and 3 boys.

Who is Bac Lieu Prince?

Bac Lieu Prince, real name Tran Trinh Huy (1900-1973), also known as Ba Huy, was a notorious playboy in the South in the 30s and 40s of the last century. He was the third son of landlord Tran Trinh Trach. When mentioning this prince, we cannot ignore the anecdotes that created a legend in the life of the upper class in the South at that time.

Located about 100 kilometers from Can Tho, about 70 kilometers from Ca Mau and right in the center of Bac Lieu City, moving to the prince's house is quite easy. From Ho Chi Minh City, you can go by car along National Highway 1A to the southwest. 

Pass through provinces and cities such as Long An, Tien Giang, Ben Tre and Soc Trang. When arriving in Soc Trang, continue going west along National Highway 1A to Bac Lieu and the destination of the Prince's House.

Even though the master of the home is now over a century old, it has been meticulously maintained and renovated. The house's primary colors are yellow and white. Because it was created by a French architect, it has a more Western aesthetic with some Eastern influences.

The Inside of the Bac Lieu Prince's House

The mansion is designed with two floors and a terrace. The staircase to the second floor is made of marble, divided into 3 sections, each section has 9 steps symbolizing longevity and eternity. The wooden staircase leading to the terrace is where the father of the Prince of Bac Lieu used to dry money.

The Prince amassed an impressive collection of rare antiquities and the mansion boasts an opulent layout. Mother-of-pearl is used to make the welcome table and chairs as well as the stunning mother-of-pearl in the living room. Two hallways and three separate bedrooms make up the top floor.

Each of them is completely furnished with a writing desk, air conditioning, double beds, TVs, phones, clocks and closets. The youthful master also gathered incredibly rare items, such as the teapots and vases in the home. These vases are currently worth hundreds of millions of Vietnamese Dong.
