Mekong Delta Trip 3 days 2 nights: Escape to Can Tho and Surroundings

At 7:30 AM, hotel pick-up in Ho Chi Minh City. From there, set off for Cai Be, the heart of our Mekong Delta exploration. Upon arrival, set sail down Tien River by boat. Lush orchard gardens, known as the “fruit basket of the Lower Mekong,” will line the banks, bursting with colorful produce. Weaving through charming villages, discover ancient houses and gain insights into the region’s indigenous culture. 

Pay a visit to a family-run business, where you witness the creation of delectable coconut fudges and crispy rice popcorn firsthand. Sample fresh fruits straight from the source, enjoy the melodies of Southern Vietnamese folk music, and paddle through picturesque canals in the Upper Mekong Delta. 

At lunchtime, learn the art of preparing Vietnamese specialties amidst a local garden, allowing you to engage with the community and create delicious dishes. After lunch, cycle through the sprawling orchards, interact with friendly locals who will offer a glimpse into their daily lives, and don't miss the chance to visit Ba Kiet's ancient house, a historical gem. 

Return to Cai Be by boat before embarking on a journey to Can Tho City for an overnight stay.

The cultural immersion continues with a visit to Munir Ansay Pagoda, a renowned Khmer temple admired for its unique architecture. Next, travel by boat to the Con Son tourist area, where a delightful fruit plantation awaits. Take your pick of seasonal treats and indulge in the freshness.

After lunch, depart for Chau Doc to visit Tra Su Forest, a hidden gem known for its diverse flora and fauna within a vast mangrove forest. Glide through the lush green scenery on a rowing boat journey. 

The day concludes with a visit to the popular pilgrimage site, Ba Chua Xu Temple. Check-in and relaxation at your hotel. Dinner at a local restaurant.

After lunch, delve into the rich history of the region at the Go Thap historical site. Here, learn about the Oc Eo culture, which existed from the 1st century and flourished in the 7th century. Uncover the formation and development of the ancient kingdom of Funan, leaving you with a deeper understanding of the Mekong Delta's past.

In the evening, return to Ho Chi Minh City, concluding your unforgettable journey.
