Itinerary
Pick up at your hotel in Phnom Penh today and head north to Battambang for around 5 hours’ driving. Our first stop would be in Kampong Luong, a silversmith village. Here you have an opportunity to reveal how silversmiths creating fashionable silver objects. Also learn how the community makes pottery the traditional way and observe how sugar is collected from the sugar palm trees.
Continue transferring to Battambang for your overnight. Lunch is at the hotel (own account). Upon arrival check in at the hotel and enjoy the hotel facilities. In the afternoon walk around the premises with your guide and continue to the village of Ksach Puoy on the banks of the Sangker River, which is home to many well preserved traditional Khmer wooden stilted homes and tropical fruit farms. This is a great opportunity to taste juicy oranges, sweet pineapples, and many other fruits available in the region. Another chance awaits you is Cambodia’s first vineyard. Here you can learn about producing wine in the tropics and a tasting if you are interested. Dinner is at your own account. Overnight in Battambang
Today we will get on your bicycle to experience Battambang’s countryside and stop to visit some Cambodia families who produce traditional products such as rice wine, bamboo sticky rice, rice paper & dried banana. Afterwards drop to visit to the well preserved 11th century Angkorian temple of Prasat Phnom Banan. Climbing the 350 steps to observe superb views of surrounding countryside. To round off the day, visit to Phnom Sampov, which a massive limestone outcrop that is dissected by a number of caves of which some are more accessible than others. Some caves contain unexpected reminders of Cambodia’s turbulent history. Every evening at nightfall, thousands of bats make their way out of caves in the hillside to feed before returning at dawn. This natural phenomenon really is a “must see” for the visitor.
Say goodbye to Battambang and drive 2.5 hours further to north western province of Banteay Meanchey. This province is home to the ancient temple of Banteay Chhmar, less unknown sites visited by tourists. A community tourism project has recently been established in the village to help the poor people taking care of the temple to supplement their incomes. Once you arrive in the village, the local community will welcome and join with you to visit the temple while explaining its history. Last we transfer to Siem Reap for your overnight and the rest of time is at your own exploration.
