The flooded forest is located just north of Stung Treng along the Mekong River. This unique area is shaped by the river’s annual rise and fall. During the wet season, the river rises several meters, and strong currents push the trees against the rushing water. When the water level drops in the dry season (around December), fascinating root formations and bent-over trees appear above the water.
You can take a boat from resorts along the river or arrange one in Stung Treng town. If possible, it's best to bring a kayak for a closer look, but be careful, as the river currents can be strong even in the dry season. The best time to visit is from December to April when the water level is low, so you can see the trees above the water.
