Sam Son Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Vietnam and the most crowded beach in the North. The coastline is 9 kilometers long and shaped like a crescent moon, running from the foot of Truong Le mountain to Doc Cuoc Temple.

By coach: Many coach companies are operating the Hanoi - Thanh Hoa route from My Dinh Station or Giap Bat Station with ticket prices ranging from VND 100 000 to VND 180 000.
By train: If you prefer to see the scenery during your trip, traveling by train is an excellent option. Passengers can enjoy meals, drinks, and Wi-Fi on board. Train tickets range from VND 160 000 to VND 280 000 (depending on seat class) and depart from Hanoi Station or Long Bien Station.

By personal vehicles: For those planning a self-guided trip to Sam Son Beach, traveling by motorbike or car brings more flexibility. To maximize your time at Sam Son, consider an early morning departure, ideally between 4:00 AM and 5:00 AM. Doc Cuoc Temple is dedicated to the god Doc Cuoc, associated with the legend of a giant boy who fought to save his village. The Doc Cuoc Temple is predicted over 700 years old. Every year, the people of Sam Son, Thanh Hoa Province, organize a banh chung (square sticky rice cake) and banh day (round sticky rice cake) festival on the 12th day of the 5th lunar month to worship the god.

The Temple was built to honor a woman using herbs to save people. The legend said that once upon a time, a young woman was banished from her family for marrying a poor man. The couple lived by gathering herbs and treating the sick. Eventually, they moved to the top of a mountain and never returned. The locals built a shrine in their honor, calling it the Co Tien Temple.

Being a coastal region, there are many fresh seafood specialties in Sam Som. Fishermen in Sam Son Beach often sell their catches directly after their trips. You can find any sea creature at very reasonable prices. The most popular favorites by the tourists are blood cockles, squid roe, sea crab, grilled snails, etc.
