Mai Chau Pu Luong Tour 3 days 2 nights: Trek off the beaten path

Your guide will pick you up at your hotel in Hanoi after breakfast, and we will set off for Hoa Binh Province, located just 80 km west of Hanoi. On the way, we will stop at a local market before continuing our journey to Mai Chau Valley. Here, we will take a break for lunch in a traditional Thai stilt house in the village of Pom Coong.

After lunch, we will embark on a hike through Pu Luong Reserve, walking amidst lush rice fields and mountains, and passing through small villages where you can observe the daily lives of the locals in this stunning natural environment. You will have a more intimate experience when we enjoy dinner and spend the night with a local family in one of the Thai stilt houses.

On the second day, we have an optional activity for those willing to wake up early. If you rise before sunrise, you can enjoy watching it break over the mountains as local farmers start their morning routines. You might even join in for a bit to get a real taste of rural Vietnamese life.

Whether you choose to participate or not, you'll enjoy breakfast prepared by the local Thai people before embarking on a 5-6 hour trek we have planned. The first part of the trek is the most challenging, with steep climbs and thrilling river crossings, but the effort will be rewarded with easier stretches that offer stunning views of the valley, rice terraces, rainforests, and streams from a high vantage point. This is definitely one of the best off-the-beaten-path experiences in Vietnam!

A picnic lunch will be served when we reach Hin Village, before we continue on to Hieu Village, often regarded as the most beautiful rural village in Vietnam.

Finally, we’ll arrive at Kho Muong village, where you can spend your time as you wish—strolling around the village and chatting with locals or relaxing in the eco homestay established by Flora and Fauna International in collaboration with local communities. The total distance trekked to reach this point is around 12-15 kilometers.

In the evening, you'll have the chance to enjoy drinks and socialize with the friendly locals in the peaceful atmosphere of Kho Muong before settling in for the night in a traditional Thai stilt house.

On your final day, you’ll start another 3-hour trek, covering about 5 to 7 kilometers. It begins with an easy path, giving you a chance to relax and enjoy your surroundings while warming up for what’s ahead.

After a short break in Ban Hieu Village, you’ll climb some steep hills and cross exciting rivers, rewarded with amazing views of the valley below. Once you’ve enjoyed the scenery, we’ll head to Pho Doan Village.

Here, you can take some time to rest before we go to the main road, where your driver will be ready to take you back to Hanoi. We’ll stop for lunch on the way, and you’ll arrive at your hotel in Hanoi in the late afternoon.
