Ha Giang Tour 9 days: An Epic Ha Giang Adventure

Your adventure begins with an early morning pick-up (around 7:30 AM) from your Hanoi hotel. Drive along the newly constructed Noi Bai - Lao Cai highway, the longest in Vietnam. From the Red River Delta, witness breathtaking landscapes transitioning from the lowlands to the midlands of Lao Cai province. Upon arrival in Lao Cai City, have a lunch break before continuing your journey.

In the afternoon, drive to Bao Nhai. Here, depending on water levels in the Chay River, you will either embark on a peaceful boat trip upstream or take a scenic car ride to a charming village of the Tay ethnic minority. 

Explore the village at your own pace, immersing yourself in their daily life and rich cultural traditions. After your visit, a short car ride takes you uphill to the charming town of Bac Ha. Check into your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. Dinner and overnight stay are included in Bac Ha.

Spend most of your morning exploring the vibrant Bac Ha Market, the largest hill tribe market in Northwest Vietnam. This bustling marketplace brings together diverse ethnicities from surrounding villages who trade goods and livestock. Witness the lively exchange of buffalo, cows, goats, horses, etc.

After that, head to Xi Man town for a delicious lunch at a local food store. The afternoon unfolds with a drive to Vinh Quang town in Hoang Su Phi. Gear up for a 1.5-hour hike to Ban Luoc, a charming Tay ethnic village, where you will stay overnight in a traditional stilt house homestay.

This morning, you will bid farewell to the host family after breakfast. Trek along a dirt trail, winding up and down the hills as you make your way towards the breathtaking rice terraces in the Ban Luoc area. This region, recognized as one of Hoang Su Phi's national rice terrace heritage cores, reaches its peak beauty during the yellow season, typically in the first half of October.  

Once your trek concludes, transfer to Vinh Quang town for a delicious lunch. In the afternoon, drive to Nam Son commune for another charming homestay in Nam Ai village.

Your day begins with a breakfast served right at your home-stay. After that, leave the homestay for a full-day trek promising stunning views of the Nam Khoa commune’s rice terraces (with some potential challenges). The journey will take roughly 6-7 hours, and you will enjoy a well-prepared picnic lunch at a local house en route.

Late in the afternoon, you will arrive at your final homestay nestled in Nam Hong village. This charming village offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich culture of the Red Yao ethnic minority. After checking in, take some time to relax and unwind.

After a leisurely breakfast, journey towards Ha Giang city, enjoying breathtaking landscapes that will leave you speechless en route. Upon arrival, savor a delicious lunch at a local restaurant.

First up is the Ha Giang Museum where you will gain fascinating insights into the region's diverse ethnic cultures and historical heritage. From the museum, travel to Thon Tha, a picturesque village renowned for its traditional Tay Ethnic minority stilt houses. 

After reaching your homestay in Thon Tha, take a moment to unwind and settle in. In the afternoon, take a walk through the tranquil countryside, breathe in the fresh air and immerse yourself in the serene beauty of the surroundings. 

In the evening, return to your homestay for a delectable dinner featuring local flavors. Conclude your day with an overnight stay in Thon Tha village, warmly hosted by a welcoming local family.

Fuel up for the 6th day with a delicious breakfast at 8:00 AM and bid farewell to your lovely host family. Today, transfer to Dong Van Karst Geo-park, boasting limestone formations and breathtaking mountain vistas. Stops along the way will offer you countless opportunities to capture stunning photos and delve into the vibrant local culture. 

Marvel at the panoramic vistas from Bac Sum Pass, take a leisurely hike up Fairy Mountain, where a mesmerizing viewpoint and the rugged charm of Tham Ma Pass awaits. We will also explore the charming ethnic villages of Pho Cao H’mong, Pho Bang ancient town, the legendary House of Pao and the historic residence of the Vuong family, also known as the “Palace of the Hmong King”. 

After all, we will arrive in Dong Van town. Check in, take a refreshing break, and savor a delicious dinner before resting for another exciting day.

Today promises another awe-inspiring adventure as we delve deeper into the majestic Dong Van Karst Plateau - a unique blend of geological and cultural heritage. After a delicious breakfast at a charming Old Quarter restaurant, explore the vibrant Dong Van Sunday Market. Witness the tapestry of hill tribe life as they gather to trade their goods, creating a truly unforgettable cultural experience.

Next, drive to Meo Vac. The 25-kilometer stretch along Happy Road boasts breathtaking scenery - picture the Nho Que River snaking its way through the dramatic Tu San Abyss. Pause at Ma Pi Leng Pass for a short morning trek along the sky-walk path, offering unparalleled panoramic views that will leave you speechless. Have lunch at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, take a motorized boat ride through the Tu San Abyss Alley, one of Southeast Asia’s most magnificent canyons. This unforgettable journey will take you through the heart of the plateau, where towering limestone formations create a dramatic backdrop. Take a short walk up to Tu San Rock Ledge to capture stunning photos before continuing to Meo Vac Town. Overnight in Meo Vac town.

Have breakfast at a local restaurant and then depart Dong Van Karst Geopark, head back to Ha Giang City, the heart of this captivating exploration. Today's itinerary is punctuated with numerous stops to capture the breathtaking landscapes that still await you on your return journey. A lunch stop will be included along the way, allowing you to indulge in local flavors. 

By late afternoon, you'll arrive back in Ha Giang City. Check in, enjoy dinner and a relaxing overnight stay there.
