Itinerary
On arrival at the Luang Prabang airport, you will be warmly welcome and transferred to hotel by private car. The remaining would be free until we pick you up for a short cultural tour to explore the town. Begin first with a game of petanque, one of Laos’ favorite pastimes. The guide will provide a basic breakdown of the game’s rules, and locals will provide tips and tricks while snacks and drinks are served. Laotians really enjoy playing and joking around, an opportunity to share a good time and trade lots of smiles and laughter together. Continue your trip to climb to the top of Mount Phousi which is considered the city’s geographical center and a great lookout place. Have a closer look at the golden stupa sitting at the peak as you soak up the sweeping views of the surrounding countryside.
We start the half day trip with first stop at Luang Prabang’s famous Vat Xieng Thong which is one of the most important of Lao monasteries and reserves a significant monument to the spirit of religion, royalty and traditional art where you’ll be suprised by the temple complex’s struture and gold decoration.
Then we make our stop at Vat Mai which brings us a chance to enjoy the impressive architecture of this Laotian city’s unique architecture. After experiencing the Luang Prabang’s rich religious heritage, continue your trip to climb to the top of Mount Phousi which is considered the city’s geographical center and a great lookout place. Have a closer look at the golden stupa sitting at the peak as you soak up the sweeping views of the surrounding countryside.
The last destination of our tour today would be Luang Prabang’s National Museum, once the country’s royal palace and home to King Sisavangvong in the early 20th century. Explore the museum’s a range of personal artifacts from the Lao royal family as well as the Phra Bang Buddha image and throne from the country’s Lan Xang Kingdom.

Overnight in Luang Prabang
About 15 kilometres outside Luang Prabang is the serene Shangri-Lao Explorer Camp, also known as Elephants Village. The Park is located in the middle of a green, natural area on the banks of the Nam Khan River
After breakfast we will depart at around 9:00 AM, along the way stop at the grave of Henry Mouhot’s, the famous adventurer who re-discovered Angkor Wat in 1859.
Chat with a local vet to learn more about the camp's efforts in taking care of the animals and then, get the chance to feed elephants and enjoy an elephant ride through the jungle paths. Continue the expedition with an hour elephant ride on a howdah (elephant seat) through forests and over hills into the protected Huay Sae hidden valley. Say goodbye to the gentle giant and have a delicious lunch near the picturesque waterfall. If the weather permits, you can go for a soothing swim in the natural pools.
After lunch, continue trekking 1.5 hours on foot. The adventurous trail cross bamboo bridges and pass by more waterfalls as you trek along the Huay Sae Stream. You are sure to love the sight of the turquoise pools. Reaching the end of the valley, traditional horses from the hill tribes will be waiting to help transport bags. Board a luxury bamboo raft and slowly float downstream, which is a relaxing 1.5 hour journey with an optional 30 min stop at the Tad Sae Waterfall where a moment of total relaxation awaits you. At 16:30, the guide will provide transport back to Luang Prabang. Overnight in Luang Prabang
After breakfast, we start to transfer to the Kamu Lodge pier in Luang Prabang then embark a local boat on Mekong river in 2 hours to reach the best famous and spiritual Pak Ou Buddha Caves, where we could have a look at confluence of the Mekong & Ou Rivers. Since the 16 century, the villagers built many thousands of Buddha images here.
Continue cruising upstream and you would reach Kamu Lodge Experience near 12.00 noon. You can look into your super size tents with attached modern bathroom amenities and facilities. Lunch is served at the restaurant (Lao set Menu).
After lunch you ảre free to make a choice of either relaxing or to enjoying the traditional Kamu lifestyles and activities such as rice planting and harvesting in nearby rice fields, gold panning in the Mekong , traditional fishing techniques , visit of the kamu village, archery contest. Dinner (Lao set menu) is a feast by Kamu tribe standards. You will see the real world from the Kamu’s eyes.
After dinner, free time at your tent.
Overnight at Kamu Lodge.
Free time at your leisure in the morning to relax at Kamu Lodge or make a stroll around the lodge and the surrounding village. We will embark at around 14:00 by the boat Shompoo Cruise with downstream cruise back to Luang prabang at 17:00
Upon arrival pick up and transfer you to your hotel.
In the evening we will get an opportunity to join a private Baci ceremony at a local family. The Baci ceremony is a traditional ritual of the Lao people expresses the spirituality of the country and is a highly unforgettable experience and a deep insight into Lao culture for the participants. Today you have free time until we pick up and transfer you to the airport for your flight home. End of our service
