Thank you
Asia King is a terrific travel planning company.  They have sent us on complex. personalized trips to Vietnam and separately to Northern Thailand. Their prices are quite reasonable compared with US companies. Their drivers use clean, modern cars and are quite safe. The local guides are very professional, friendly and speak excellent English.  What impressed me with each trip was Asia King's willingness to change an itinerary to suit our needs. On our Thailand trip, when rain in the forecast suddenly made a two-day jungle trek look uninviting, their office in Hanoi rearranged everything with just 24-hour notice to cancel the trek (at no charge) and to give us extra time in Chiang Rai.  We look forward to a trip with Asia King to Cambodia and Laos in the next two years.

Thanks again-- Todd

Dear Huong,
The trip was great. Thank you for your prompt responses and recommendation. We really enjoyed the Paukan 2006 - the hospitality was great.
My only (very small) advice is that we maybe could've used better directions to find where to get on the boat in Mandalay. It's a very long Jetty area. But this is really just a minor thing - the service was great.

thank you,

Dear Huong
We are back home now. Thank you for arranging the lovely trip for us. We all had a great time and hope to arrange another trip with you in the near future.

We forgot to mention that due to lack of time we did not even visit the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum on 9th April. Is there an extra credit due to us for the entrance fee? If so, are you able to refund the total amount to Sunil's credit card (the one we paid the final amount).

We were not happy at the Soka Roth Hotel in Siem Reap. We were given rooms which did not have double beds and not even Deluxe. Our room was not cleaned and had mosquitoes flying around and dead insects on the floor. After complaining we were given only one deluxe room. The other room did not even have white curtains and the two single beds were joined together. The switches could not be reached as they were behind the beds. They had to to climb over the bed in order to reach the switches for turning on and off the lights. The hotel was full and they did not have enough food for breakfast. They  only brought small amounts of fruit at a time and everyone was grabbing it so as soon as they brought it, all was gone in a few minutes. We would be grateful if you can get us a compensation for this hotel.

As per our conversation at the meeting in Hanoi, can you please send us an email with details of hotel cost per person for the night of 8th April.
Also please let us have the cost of the guide, the driver, van and transfer for the the whole day of 9th April . We need to make a claim against Emirates Airline for one whole day cost and what we missed as this was our once in a lifetime trip.
We would be grateful if can list out the total cost per per person and add anything that we can claim for.

Thank you once again for everything. Thank you for the coffee. My son and daughter loved it.

Kind regards

Dear Huong,

Thank you very much for your e mail and interest on my feedback after the completion of my Cambodia trip. I agree with you that the best way to grow the business is by hearing clients and trying to adjust services based on their feedback.

Ok, so this is what I can report:

1-Overall: I absolutely LOVED Cambodia. Both cities (PP and SR) were extremely interesting and I was surprised by how much Siem Reap has to offer so I had the most wonderful time really.

2- Hotels: I really liked both hotels I stayed at and service was really good (in general people in Cambodia were incredibly helpful). The only negative I found was that the internet in Saem Siam Reap was not working properly inside the room and I had to be outside in the corridor in order to use it. Wifi was incredibly slow or just not working at times. I would still stay at this hotel as it was just beautiful and convenient and had a great pool.

3- Tour Guides: I was happy with both tour guides I had (my preference was the guide from Pnom Penh though). They were both sweet and helpful and especially the one from PP explained a lot of things. The downside was that I felt that maybe they wanted to drop me at the hotel earlier and finish their work for the day. Even so, the guide from PP was happy to visit a temple close to the market by my request so I found him accommodating on this sense.
The guide from Siem Reap was also really nice but again, I felt he wanted to drop me at the hotel as earlier as possible. There were days that we finished the activities at 1pm so I found this not great. I was also not happy that we went to see the sunrise in Angkor Wat and although I saw all the tourists coming inside the temple when it was still dark, my guide insisted that we should stay outside because the view was nicer with the water and reflection. I found that strange because all the other groups were going inside the temple but since I didn’t know the temple, I did what he said. My impression was that he wanted to stay outside because his friends (some other guides) were there as well. I didn’t find the sunrise as nice outside and when we came into the temple, I found out that there is also water with reflection in there, and a MUCH MUCH nicer view for pictures inside than outside, so I felt he deceived me.
I was also disappointed at him when we came back from our bicycle day and we passed outside Angkor Wat. According to my itinerary, I would visit the temple this afternoon and then again the next day (and Angkor Wat would deserve two visits). Instead, the guide told me we would not go in the temple this afternoon because we were coming back the next day. Again, that is not what my itinerary wrote and it was still very early (2.30pm) so I had plenty of time to go inside the temple but I think he just wanted to go home. I was also very tired from cycling (and he even said this to you) so it would make sense to go inside Angkor Wat and walk around the temple to have a small break from cycling rather than just keep cycling back to the hotel, which is what he insisted on doing (and we did).
Also, on the day I went to see sunrise at Angkor Wat the itinerary wrote I would see sunset as well but my guide didnt do it this way and just dropped me back at the hotel at 1pm.

4- Itinerary: I think most of activities you suggested were great and I would certainly do it again. The only problem I saw on this was that the activities only lasted half a day as I sad (finishing between 1 or 3pm) and I think you told me before that I would have the activities from 8am to 5pm. If I knew I would be back at the hotel so early, I would have planned for afternoon activities as well but I didn’t do this because I thought the itinerary was designed to last the whole day. Maybe it was but the guides just rushed to make it quicker? I am not sure.

I know I made some negative comments but overall I would definitely recommend your services and use them again when we visit Vietnam (on our list now), Laos or Myanmar. I would also recommend your services to friends and family. You were always very responsive and helpful and I appreciate that.

I thank you so much again Huong and wish you and your family all the best.

Yes, I did receive your earlier n\message, and I apologize for not responding.  Thank you for following up.

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip with Asia King guides. For us, It was just the right mix of natural scenery, historical buildings, and cultural moments.  We have no criticisms of the arrangements you made on our behalf and, indeed, thank you fort changing our flight arrangements at such short notice. Here are some additional comments:

Hotels:  all interestingly different, but all  of a very high standard.  Even thought it had the smallest room, I think we liked the one in Hue the best.  It just had a really nice "feel" to it.

Guides: again both were very different in style, but both were very welcoming, informative, interesting and helpful.  We particularly welcomed the early starts  to visit the Trang An grottoes and our bicycle tour at Cam Thanh to avoid the crowds.  (THe road buidling going on around Cam Thanh made the bicycle ride a little less pleasant, but the foot massage, cooking lesson and lunch were perfect.)

If I had any complaint it would be the distances we covered by motor transport, but what we saw of the countryside and of day-to-day life could not have been viewed from a plane or on a fast motorway.  And we gained a deeper appreciaition of how long the country is.  I will always remember one street scene close to our hotel in Ninh Binh – two cows being slaughtered and washed in front of a shop.  It was not shocking or horrific in any sense, but done with calm and care.

I wish we could have spent a second night on Ha Long bay, which was both beautiful and fascinating, and the boat most comfortable. Also I would have liked more time to explore Hanoi.  Another time, I hope.  Enjoyed what I saw and was fascinated by how the traffic navigates itself – like shoals of fish! The restaurant in Hanoi (Duongs?) was a wonderful introduction to Vietnamese food in a charming yet sophisticated setting.  The water puppet theatre was a grand introduction to what we would encounter everywhere – water, water, and more water.

These are just a few thoughts on our trip.  It was wonderful; everything went like clockwork.  Your arrangements were perfect.  Thank you.

I haven't said too much about the historic tombs, pagodas and other building we saw because I'm still trying to process the sights and sounds in my mind.  Now that I've see them, I must read more about them.   And that's how I like to travel and explore: see and experience enough to intrigue me than read about places on my return home so that I can actually visualize them.  The downside of that strategy is that I miss some things, like the Women's Museum in Hanoi, but like I said – next time!

We shall certainly (and already have) recommended Asia King to friends and family interested in visiting Vietnam.  And when we come back to explore the southern part of the country, we shall definitely be back in touch with you.

All best wishes and so many thanks for a great trip

Dear Huong Bui,

Average

It's been our pleasure to travel along your beautiful country!!!

We had the best of times during our trip through the Mekong river. Everything turned out fantastic!!! It was a dream trip!!! The crew, especially Miss Chau Nguyen, were all very kind and friendly.

We all felt very comfortable. The food was excellent, the level of information and dialogue, the boat itself,  EVERYTHING added for a great trip.

We will highly recommend your company and we look forward to travel with you to those wonderful destinations sometime soon.

Best regards.

Dear Huong,

Good

The boat trip went very well, we enjoyed the cruising down & up the Mekong, the excursions were good and the barbecue on the sand bank was a real highlight, although the Lao Whisky gave me a bad head next morning! We were well looked after and we had good fun with the other passengers.

The day with the French Orchid specialist in Phou Khao Khuay National Park was a real highlight

I have taken the liberty of attaching a photograph of Sue & I at the Elephant Village near Luang Prebang.

Best wishes,

Roger

Dear Huong,

Many thanks for your email, a very Happy New Year to you and your family.

Referencing the trip we had a very pleasant and relaxing time onboard the boat, we were surprised that we were the only guests but tat was not seen as an issue as we had the free run of the vessel.

The initial guide and crew onboard were all great and we had no issues, we didn’t take the hill climb on day one as we really wanted to just chill out although we took the trip on the second day and also had a great time.

We finally finished the boat trip and visited the Vietnamese floating village which was amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed that.

There was some confusion at the end of the boat trip as we believed we would get a faster boat that would take us up to Siam Reap, whether we didn’t ask correctly or the staff were reluctant to say ut we had to finally spend a ~7 hour SUV drive around the lake to Siam Reap, although this was picturess for a while it was not what we had expected and spoilt the final day. One comment was that the young driver drove on poor roads at high speeds and after seeing several accidents along the route we had to request the guide to translate to the drive to slow down, we did not want to ruin the rest of our two week vacation whether by the drivers mistake or some other road users. The driver did slow down and the road trip albeit long was better.
The guide on the road trip was very knowledgeable as was the initial guide and we found all they had to say about Cambodia very interesting.

So to sum up our trip we enjoyed the boat trip but not so much the road trip.
