Tam Coc - Bich Dong Tourist Area was recognized by UNESCO in 2014 as part of the Trang An Landscape Complex. Ninh Binh Tourism Week is a unique annual tourism event in the province. This year's event is also one of the activities in response to the 10th anniversary of Trang An Landscape Complex being recognized as a UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage Site (2014-2024).

Ninh Binh Province organizes Tourism Week to enhance the promotion and introduction of Ninh Binh's tourism products to domestic and international tourists. Simultaneously, it affirms Ninh Binh's tourism brand as a safe, friendly, high-quality, and attractive destination.
On the evening of June 1st, at Tam Coc - Bich Dong Tourist Area, People's Committee of Ninh Binh Province held the opening ceremony of Ninh Binh Tourism Week 2024 on the largest scale ever. This year's theme is "The Golden Tam Coc - Trang An". The opening ceremony attracted the participation of thousands of locals and tourists.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Tran Song Tung, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Head of the Organizing Committee of Ninh Binh Tourism Week 2024, said that this is an important annual tourism event, contributing to promoting the values of the World Natural Heritage. It also introduces the image of the land and people of Ninh Binh, and the unique cultural identity of the Tam Coc - Bich Dong scenic spot.

The artistic performances at the ceremony presented by many famous artists created an exciting atmosphere for thousands of attendees. The opening ceremony was a perfect start for the tourism week, promising the success of many upcoming activities.
Immediately following the opening ceremony is an impressive art program consisting of 3 parts: Vietnamese Soul, The Beauty of Ancient Capital, Ninh Binh Convergence and Outreach. The musical journey takes visitors to a land of converging mountains and rivers, rich in cultural and historical identity, and the hospitable people of the ancient capital.
Ninh Binh Tourism Week 2024 takes place from June 1st to 8th. Visitors will be able to experience many cultural and religious activities bearing characteristics of Ninh Binh Province. It is estimated that during 8 days of the event, the province will welcome 300,000 visitors, a 75% increase compared to the same period last year.

The opening day organized a procession of offerings, showcasing regional products from across the country in Ceremony of Worshiping Agriculture God. The festival is a unique cultural trait of the wet rice civilization, practiced by generations to pray for favorable weather and abundant harvests. A highlight of the ceremony was the journey along Ngo Dong River and admiring the giant artwork on the rice field.
The iconic highlight of Ninh Binh Tourism Week this year is the artwork "Shepherd Playing Flute", created on a large rice field in Tam Coc. The artistic rice field covers an area of nearly 10,000 square meters, featuring the image of a young buffalo herder playing the flute, inspired by the famous same name Dong Ho folk painting. This artwork expresses people's wishes for favorable weather, abundant harvests, and harmony between people and nature.

Walking streets open every evening during the festival week. Here, visitors can enjoy Vietnamese folk art performances on the boat dock or in some hotels and restaurants in Tam Coc - Bich Dong tourist area. The streets also open Ninh Hai embroidery stalls, souvenir shops, and food stalls.
This year marks the first time Ninh Binh Province host a goat fighting competition. It was organized by Ninh Binh Farmers' Association with the response from farmers from communes across the province. Goat Fighting Festival was held on June 4th at Ninh Hai Commune stadium. Goat fighters selected to participate are healthy male goats, aged 3 years and older. The competition is divided into weight classes under 50kg and weight classes 50kg and over.

Other activities are also organized to promote Ninh Binh tourism throughout the week such as exhibition of traditional handicrafts and OCOP products, Tam Coc Photo Tour, Ninh Binh tourism products introduction, art photo exhibition themed "The Golden Tam Coc - Trang An", etc.
In order to ensure safety and facilitate convenience for visitors, Ninh Binh Tourism Week Organizing Committee arranges free shuttle services to and from the opening ceremony. The pick-up location is at Hoa Lu Ancient Town starting at 5:00 PM, and visitors are transported back after the ceremony concludes.

Anticipating a large influx of visitors during the tourism week, the police force will come out regularly to manage traffic. Continuous inspections at bus stations will be conducted to minimize the loss of tourists' property. The organizing committee has also directed efforts towards environmental sanitation, strictly enforcing tourism culture and civility, and preventing the harassment of tourists.
Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee hopes that Ninh Binh Tourism Week will showcase the potential and strengths of the province's tourism industry.
