Dear Huong

Thank you, we enjoyed our trip to Laos and Thailand.  I would like to see more of Laos in the future.

As you know we did not have any tour guide from Asia King; so I cannot say anything about it.

The hotel in Luang Prabang (My Dream) was very nice. Beautiful garden, good restaurant, nice atmosphere, very friendly staff. It is a bit outside Luang Prabang, but they offer several complimentary shuttles per day.

Stefan thought that the classic room was a bit expensive for Asian standards; I thought it was ok.

We were picked up from the ship manager well in time. The ship is beautiful and well maintained; our superior cabins were large and very nice with a balcony on the back of the ship. The only issue on board (and we told “Lernidee” about it) is that nearly all chairs (on our balcony, in the lounge, even the deck chairs who do not have a proper support for the head) are extremely uncomfortable and a real issue for people with back problems. Should be different on a ship which invites to relax! 

Otherwise good and friendly service on board, an excellent cook, a very knowledgeable cruise director / tour guide and a wonderful landscape all along the way. There were not so many excursions as on our previous trip from Ho-Chi-Minh to Angkor Wat, which was good; there was time to relax and to enjoy the landscape while travelling on the Mekong. In addition we had several lectures on board concerning Laos history and culture as well as a film.

The Legend Chiang Rai: good location, a fantastic garden and a nice room. The hotel was rather empty (end of the rainy season?) and the atmosphere in the restaurant was sleepy (as the service) and not so very nice. Food was good, but nothing special. All in totally overpriced.

Altogether I enjoyed the time in Laos very much (Stefan, you want to add something?).

Good morning Huong.

Overall the trip on the Mekong Dawn was very good.

Our guide Samphors Dy was absolutely fantastic and went out of his way to make everything work smoothly.

The meals were delicious and all the staff were friendly.

The excursions were very informative and allowed us to see some quite remote sights that showed us how the people lived, worked and celebrated their religious beliefs.

The 3 hr fast boat trip across the lake was a great experience as well and connecting vehicle was fine also.

More guests on the boat apart from us would have been more fun.

Some printed information about Cambodia and the Mekong Dawn and maps on the boat would be good. Also some souvenirs of the boat to buy would be nice such as coasters, cups or fridge magnets.

Dear Huong,

Thank you for your assistance. It was generally very good trip for us and both cruises did very well. The crew was friendly, the trip pilots were helpful, so there is not much to complain about. The food was great on both ships too.
 
I have 2 remarks only, so maybe things can be improved to offer even better experience.

1. Kayaks which we’ve been using on Ha Long Bay were in very poor condition. Cracked in many spots, unstable and uncomfortable, without any backrest support. It partly took the fun of the whole idea of kayaking in Ha Long. It was painful for my back and difficult to handle. These kayaks should be replaced with new ones a.s.a.p.

1. We were very excited to see the Cai Rang floating market in Can Tho. We’ve seen many movies about how colorful and vital it is with all the crowd, goods on boats etc. I also heard that it is necessary to be there very early. Our tour pilot told us though that we do not need to hurry, that we can have breakfast at 8 and the go to the market at about 9 AM. I have no reason to not believe to my guide as I ma not from Mekong Delta, so we did as he told us. Then when we went to the Cai Rang, there was almost nothing going on there anymore. The place looked like it was already afterhours. No small boats with fruits and vegetables, few people, sleepy place. This was a big disappointment for us as we wanted to see the life of Cai Rang very much. We have seen almost nothing there. Our guide told us that it always looks like this, but i don’t think so. I’ve seen many videos from that place and it can be very different. I guess that if we went there at 6 or 7 AM, then the things would have been very different. We had no problem to wake up early, but we listened to the recommendation of our tour pilot. Now we are disappointed with this one.

 
Apart of above 2 things the trip was very good. Thank you for your full assistance and we will surely let you know if we will need any further help from your side. I wish you many successes at work.

This is just a note to thank you for all your help. The sampan trip with Victoria Cruises was fantastic and your suggestion of ending in Rach Gia really made it easy to get from the sampan to Phu Quoc.
We think that Vietnam is a wonderful country full of delightful can-do people.

This was a trip to Vietnam booked in 2019 for 2020 through Asia King who made all local arrangements and gave us lots of personalised guidance about wat to see. We have just completed the trip at last! Every element of the trip even though booked and paid for so long ago was honoured. We only had some small additional costs. Throughout the whole process Asia King have been easy to communicate with and prompt in their responses.

We booked a personalised cycling trip with guide and driver.

Our trip started in Hanoi where we cycled, went on a food tour and to a coffee making course. From there we went to Mai Chau and Ninh Binh. Our guide took us off the beaten track, through villages and showed us much about life in the northern parts of Vietnam. Our driver was delightful and even with no English managed to add immensely to the trip's enjoyment.

We had a 2 night cruise on Ha Long Bay with Nostalgia Cruises (5 star all the way and our boat was only 3 months old).

Following more time sightseeing in Hanoi we flew to Hue for the second half of our trip in Hue and Hoi An. A different guide and driver. The guide had excellent English and helped us understand much detail about Vietnamese people and culture.

At each place where we went on a local experience as well as in the hotels the people were welcoming, superbly friendly and immensely generous. Language barriers were quickly overcome due to the willingness of the people to be helpful.

Our drivers were both safe and careful. Our guides helped us navigate even the manic city traffic with confidence on bikes.

Asia King had arranged for us to have sumptuous 5 - 7 course lunches each day. More than we could eat!. Our guides took us to some fabulous local eateries. Where meals were not included, our guides gave us helpful suggestions.

Some minor problems (such as a guide who had to leave us for personal reasons and a malfunctioning bike) did occur along the way and either Asia King or our guides addressed these seamlessly.

Overall we are very impressed and will happily book again with Asia King in the future.

Hello Huong, We had an absolutely amazing time on the boat. We could not  fault anything- the boat crew, our tour guide and our mini bus driver were very professional and courteous. I think we (my husband and brother) would agree it was one of our best trips and would definitely recommend.
