Since mid-July 2024, Malaysia has launched more than 60 tours related to visiting and experiencing activities at durian orchards. A total of 27 operators will serve international tourists across 12 states. These tours not only focus on enjoying durians but also combine activities such as picnicking, relaxing in forest retreats, and participating in recreational and adventure experiences.
According to Mr. Akbal Setia, a representative of the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board, the launch of these tour packages highlights the increasing popularity of Malaysian durians and culinary tourism. With these new tour packages, Malaysia offers tourists a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in local traditions.
The country aims to sell approximately 2 million durian tourism packages in 2024 and 2025. You can find detailed information about durian tourism products on the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board's website to learn more about this exciting program.
The tour prices vary widely across different segments. The goal is to emphasize the popularity and accessibility of these packages. According to Business Today Malaysia, visitors only need to pay around RM 70 (USD 15) per person to enjoy durians in Kampung Relau, Bandar Baharu, Kedah.

For a more premium experience, they may spend up to RM 4500 (USD 950) for an extended tour in Bentong Bilut Hill and Pahang. This package includes more activities such as durian picking, cooking classes, luxury camping services, and jungle trekking.
One of the luxury travel packages introduced by Malaysia's tourism industry is the "Penang Golf Experience." This package includes a 4-night stay at Bukit Jawi Golf Resort, golf sessions on scenic courses, followed by a durian tasting experience featuring various premium varieties.
Travelers can also choose a minimalist jungle camping tour, which offers a 2-night stay in a resort-style wooden cabin, complete with access to hot springs and a special Nasi Lemak durian lunch.
The campaign started in June 2024 till December 2025 but the durian season in Malaysia typically lasts from May to September, peaking in June and July. Moreover, this season coincides with many major festivals, where visitors can taste dozens of durian varieties right at the orchard. Traveling at the beginning or end of the season (May or September) will give you a quieter experience while still enjoying the finest durians.
