Vu Quang National Park is located in the mountainous areas of Vu Quang, Huong Khe, and Huong Son districts in Ha Tinh Province. It is 350 kilometers away from Hanoi and equidistant from Ha Tinh City and Vinh City in Nghe An Province, both 60 kilometers away.

Traveling by road is the simplest option, but it takes 5 to 6 hours from Hanoi. This might be a bit risky, especially under the scorching heat of Central Vietnam. The best way to get there is to fly to Vinh National Airport and then take a car to the national park. This will significantly reduce travel time.

From Vinh City, you follow National Highway 15. After crossing Ngan Sau River, turn right onto Provincial Road 70. At the intersection in Duc Long Commune, turn right onto Provincial Road 5. From there, follow Provincial Road 5 and you will arrive.
Ha Tinh shares a climate similar to Northern Vietnam. The ideal time to explore Vu Quang National Park is in the summer and autumn months. The weather is sunny and pleasant during this period, making it suitable for picnics and trekking activities to explore the deep forest.

One thing to note is the temperature in May and June in North Central Vietnam can rise very high, potentially exceeding 40 degrees Celsius. Additionally, the park has discovered, preserved, and developed a population of old Fokienia trees, estimated to be between 800 and 1,000 years old. Among them is a large tree with a base diameter of over 2.2 meters and a height of about 30 meters. Numerous other timber species are hundreds of years old.

Phan Dinh Phung Citadel was a stronghold of the Huong Khe uprising. Here, you can witness the marks of the glorious victories of Phan Dinh Phung's army and King Ham Nghi in the resistance against the French in the late 19th century.

Today, the Huong Khe uprising base still exists in the core area of Vu Quang National Park. Locals have also erected a monument and a temple dedicated to Phan Dinh Phung and his soldiers to commemorate those who endured hardships to regain national independence.
Ngan Truoi - Cam Trang Irrigation Dam is within the Vu Quang National Park complex. It provides water for all industrial and agricultural production activities, power generation, and flood mitigation in the downstream areas.

Ngan Truoi - Cam Trang is an irrigation project with a reservoir area of up to 4,000 hectares. The reservoir can hold over 7 million cubic meters of water and features nearly 300 islands of different sizes.
