History

The name "Dolphin Peak" comes from the shape of the rock that looks exactly like the head of a dolphin protruding. With a bottom-up angle, the cliff looks like a dolphin rising out of the water. The best time to visit

The best time to visit Ta Xua is from December to March when the weather is good to see clouds hanging. The downy clouds look the best in these months, especially during the sunrise. From January to March every year is the most suitable time to hunt clouds. Around April - July is the flood season, Ta Xua wears a rustic beauty with the highlight being the terraced fields sparkling with silver light. 

How to get there

To travel from Hanoi to Ta Xua, you have a few transportation options. Here's a guide on how to get to Ta Xua from Hanoi. 

By Bus 

  • Bus Stations: Head to either My Dinh or Giap Bat Bus Station in Hanoi. 
  • Bus to Son La: Take a bus from either My Dinh or Giap Bat Bus Station to Son La City. The journey may take around 6-7 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. 

Local Transportation: From Son La City, you will need to arrange local transportation, such as a taxi or hired vehicle, to reach Ta Xua, particularly Tram Tau District where Ta Xua is situated. 

By Car or Motorbike 

  • Route: Drive or ride a motorbike westward from Hanoi on National Highway 6 towards Son La City. 
  • From Son La City: Continue on National Highway 6 and follow the route to Tram Tau District, which is near Ta Xua. 
  • Local Transportation: Once you reach Tram Tau District, you may need local transportation, such as a taxi or hired vehicle, to reach specific trekking areas or attractions within Ta Xua.
