Nam O Reef is in Hoa Hiep Ward, Lien Chieu District of Da Nang City, Vietnam. Nam O Reef is located approximately 15 kilometers away from the city center. Visitors can ride a motorbike or car for about 15 to 20 minutes to reach the destination, as it is quite far from the city.
According to locals, the story of Nam O Reef's origin is rooted in an old legend. A couple named Ba Vien and Ba Na were given the task of digging mountains and filling the sea. However, they faced numerous challenges and couldn't complete the mission.

Along the way, the rocks they carried spilled out. The spilled rocks formed Nam O village. Xuan Duong Mountain and Nam O Rocky Mountain on one end, and Ca and Con Reefs on the other end.
This area was a popular fishing spot for the fishermen from Nam O and nearby Da Nang. The reef was teeming with seaweed and algae, creating a perfect habitat for a variety of seasonal fish species to breed and find shelter.
Nam O Reef is about 12 kilometers from Da Nang International Airport and around 10 kilometers from the intercity bus station. The route to Nam O Reef is very convenient, allowing tourists to travel by various means of transportation easily.
To get to the Reef, begin your journey from Da Nang City Center. Head northwest on Nguyen Tat Thanh Street and keep going for about 17 kilometers until the Hoa Hiep Bac Ward in Lien Chieu District is reached.

If you're coming from the airport, turn left to Nguyen Van Linh Street. Continue straight through the Dien Bien Phu intersection until you reach Nguyen Tat Thanh Street.
If you're starting from the intercity bus station, head to Nam Tran Street, then turn left to Hoang Thi Loan Street. At the Nguyen Sinh Sac Intersection, turn right and continue for about 500 meters to reach Nguyen Tat Thanh Street. Drive to the north for about 4 kilometers, then turn towards the fishing village. Nam O Reef is just under 200 meters from there.
