Introduction

Mindat is a large village of 6000 inhabitants Chin State, in western Burma. The small town extends very lengthwise around the main road. As the city is Catholic, it has many churches which is very different from most cities in Burma which is full of pagodas, temples and stupas.
One of the peculiarities of this city is women with tattooed faces. This ancient tradition was to tattoo the faces of young women at the age of 14-15 years. There are two different explanations for this tradition: the first says that this tradition served to "uproot" women and thus prevent the Burmese kings from taking them as slaves. The second said it was a community tradition and that all women in Chin villages wore tattoos that magnified their beauty. So, it's really a precious tradition, a beauty of Mindat culture.
On arrival in Mindat, tourists can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the hills and mountains. Located at 4860 meters above sea level, the weather is very cool in summer and very cold in winter. So, the best season to explore this region is the summer where tourists can take trips along the mountains to discover the beauty of Mindat. On the other hand, an activity not to miss in your trip is the discovery of the daily life of the minority ethnic group - K'cho. There are three main tribes in the K'cho group in Mindat: Muun, Makang, and Dai. If you come here in February, you could participate in the Chin National Day Festival. In the party, tourists watch people dance around the fire and discover K'cho's traditional dance.
If you are a Buddhist, you can visit another attraction of Mindat - Taung Pu Lu Monastery. Here you can give charity to the children of the monastic school - the school figure in the monastery to help poor children. These kids really need your help.
