History of Koh Mook

The pristine Koh Mook Island has been inhabited for centuries. It has a large number of local fishing communities living off the sea. Most of the island's indigenous people come from the Chao Leh or Sea Gypsy communities.

During the 19th and early 20th centuries, Koh Mook was relatively isolated compared to other parts of Thailand. Under colonial pressure from European countries, Thailand (then Siam) tried to maintain its power. However, these pressures did not greatly affect Koh Mook Island.

Seizing the opportunity, Koh Mook began to lay the first bricks to develop tourism in the early 20th century. At that time, the famous and attractive tourist destination on this island was Tham Morakot.

Through ups and downs, this island has witnessed an increase in tourism with both positive and negative impacts. Efforts to balance and preserve the natural beauty of Koh Mook are still going well.

Today, Koh Mook has become a popular destination for tourists looking to relax and escape the hustle and bustle of the city. The island continues to attract tourists with its stunning scenery and unique experiences. This makes visitors who have come here not regret it.
