As the legend goes, a handsome, brave young man of the Hmong ethnic minority fell deeply in love with a beautiful, skilled embroiderer from his village. Their love was a legend in the village, adored by everyone. But duty called the young man to war, and even though he waited forever, he never returned.
Having received news of his death, the left-behind maid went to their meeting spot and wept until she became the waterfall that exists today. In a cruel twist of fate, the young man returned victorious, to find his lady love had become one with nature. Unbearable in his sorrow, he climbed to the top of the waterfall, lamenting in the mountains, and was turned into a heart shaped rock in the center of the waterfall.

Each season offers a varying experience at Heart Waterfall. In springtime, the orchids are along the path up to the waterfall, painting the hike with lively colors. The scenery in the summer is characterized by the image of myrtle flowers along the path, while autumn is set against the harvest of cardamom, with visitors gaining some insight into traditional farming methods locally.
