How to get to Chanthaburi

  • By car: if you start from Bangkok, it will take you 3-4 hours to drive (about 250km). You can also take Highway 3 (Sukhumvit Road) straight to Chanthaburi.
  • By bus: Buses departing to Chanthaburi are located at the Eastern Bus Terminal (Ekkamai), in Bangkok. You should prepare food and drinks because this trip can take 4-5 hours.
  • By train: Since there are no direct trains to Chanthaburi, you can take a train from Bangkok to Laem Sing or Chachoengsao. Then you can take a bus or taxi to Chanthaburi. If you have time and want to make the trip more interesting, you can choose the train to see the scenery.
  • By airplane: Since Chanthaburi does not have a large airport, you need to fly to Trat Airport, the nearest airport. Then 70km later, you can take a bus or taxi to Chanthaburi.
