Introduction

The Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, located in the heart of Chinatown, was built in 2002 and opened to the public in 2007. A visit to this temple can be an unforgettable experience as it is rich in history and art. The Buddhist Culture Museum on the third floor houses about 300 Buddhist artifacts from all over Asia, including China, Thailand, Myanmar and Pakistan.

It is a remarkable four-storey temple. Upon entering the door you will immediately notice the magnificent main hall with its high ceiling. The bell tower and the drum tower are on the same floor. However, the main focus of most visitors is the solid two-meter gold stupa on the fourth floor, which is where the sacred relic is kept. Continuing up to the roof, there is a pagoda which has a big prayer wheel. The temple is built in a style based on the Buddhist mandala and integrated with Buddhism of the Tang Dynasty.

The temple holds ceremonies daily; visitors can take pictures even during the services. Avoid t-shirts, shorts and mini-skirts off-shoulder; a dress with respectful attire is necessary when visiting the temple.
