Some information about Bach Long Vi Island

The name "Bach Long Vi" for the island originates from a legend about a group of dragons that descended from the sky into the sea. Some dragon offspring settled in Hai Phong, forming the Cat Ba Archipelago, while others landed in Quang Ninh, creating Ha Long Bay. When the mother dragon returned to the sky, a part of her tail fell into the sea, giving rise to Bach Long Vi Island.

Around the island is an intertidal and beach area covering approximately 1.3 square kilometers, primarily formed from the erosion of the underlying rocky reef by the waves. There are numerous underwater rocky outcrops and submerged channels near the island's shores.
